HCB Widdows Mason Wins Social Impact Award at the Legal News Wales Awards

Recognition for Making a Lasting Difference Across Welsh Communities

HCB Widdows Mason is delighted to announce that it has been named the winner of the Social Impact Award at the Legal News Wales Awards, recognising the firm’s outstanding commitment to supporting individuals, families and communities across Wales.

The award celebrates organisations that make a meaningful contribution to society and acknowledges the positive impact that legal professionals can have beyond the delivery of legal services. HCB Widdows Mason was nominated for the life changing work undertaken by its Education Law team, alongside the firm’s ongoing charitable and community initiatives, including its recent partnership with the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation.

The award judges praised the firm’s approach to social impact, commenting:

“The judges selected this year’s winner for demonstrating that meaningful social impact is created not through isolated initiatives, but through a sustained commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.

“We were particularly impressed by the organisation’s unwavering dedication to supporting vulnerable individuals and families, often during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Social impact is not treated as a separate programme or project, but as a fundamental part of the organisation’s purpose, culture and day to day work.

“We were moved by the passion, compassion and commitment demonstrated throughout the submission, as well as the strong relationships built with families, schools, charities and community organisations, exemplifying the positive difference that can be achieved when people place community, care and service at the heart of everything they do.”

The recognition reflects the work carried out by HCB Widdows Mason’s specialist Education Law team, which supports children and young people in securing the educational provision, specialist support and school placements they require to reach their full potential.

For many families, obtaining the right educational support can be a complex and emotionally challenging process. Through expert legal advice and representation, the team has helped countless children access the provision they are legally entitled to, creating opportunities that can have a transformative impact on their future.

Alongside its legal work, HCB Widdows Mason remains committed to giving back to the communities it serves. The firm’s partnership with the Cardiff City FC Community Foundation is one example of how it seeks to support projects that promote inclusion, wellbeing and opportunity throughout South Wales.

The firm strongly believes that its role within the community extends far beyond professional instructions. Supporting local causes, building meaningful partnerships and helping those in need are central to the values that underpin the organisation.

Commenting on the award win, Andrew Barrowclough, Director and Solicitor at HCB Widdows Mason, said:

“We are all immensely proud to have been nominated for the Social Impact Award, but to win it means a huge amount. We are committed to serving our clients but also giving back to our local communities.

“These types of achievements make me very proud to be a lawyer in Wales.”

The award is a testament to the dedication and compassion demonstrated by colleagues across the firm every day. Whether supporting families through complex legal challenges, championing the rights of children and young people, or working alongside community organisations, HCB Widdows Mason remains committed to creating a positive and lasting social impact.

As the firm continues to grow, it remains focused on ensuring that its success is measured not only by legal outcomes, but also by the difference it makes to the lives of the people and communities it serves.

HCB Widdows Mason would like to thank Legal News Wales for this recognition and congratulate all finalists and winners celebrated at this year’s awards.
